There are several popular accounts and stories, here we mention 2 major stories
1.Yamuna and Yama :
Lord Yama had not visited his sister Yamuna for 12 years. Yamuna asked Goddess Ganga to request Yama to visit Yamuna
When Lord Yama came to visit yamuna, she had prepared a sumptious feast. Lord yama was so please that he asked his sister for any boon.
Goddess Yamuna simply asked him to vist her more often. Lord Yama was so impressed that he gave Yamuna the gift of immortality so that he could visit her always
2.Krishna and Draupadi :
Lord Krishna had hurt his finger, to which Queen Draupadi had tore a strip from her sari and tied it on his finger.
He was so pleased by this gesture that promised to protect her whenever she would be in trouble . It is said that lord Krishna had blessed Draupadi by mentioning the word “Akshayam”, which meant unending or endless.
Lord Krishna kept his promise and repaid his debt by protecting Draupadi when Dushashana of Kauravas attempted to disrobe after the pandavas lost the game of dice in the throne room of King Dhritarashtra.
Her disrobement could not happen as her sari kept getting extended, turning out to be truly “Akshyam”.
