How this place came to be
Founded in 1992 by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev at the foothills of the Velliangiri mountains, which the Saptarishi tradition considers a sacred site. The campus grew around the Dhyanalinga, consecrated in 1999 — a Shiva linga whose energy form Sadhguru describes as the highest possible expression of yogic consecration. The Linga Bhairavi temple, dedicated to the feminine form of the divine, was added in 2010.
The campus became internationally known in 2017 with the unveiling of the Adiyogi statue — at 112 feet, the largest bust sculpture in the world, recognised by Guinness World Records. Mahashivratri at Isha now draws over a million people on-site and millions more via global livestream. The Foundation also runs Inner Engineering programmes worldwide, the Save Soil movement, and Cauvery Calling, a long-term tree-planting initiative aimed at restoring the Cauvery river basin.

If you want to visit
Open to visitors year-round. The ashram offers various accommodation options from dormitories to cottages, all booked through the Isha Foundation website. Vegetarian meals included. The Linga Bhairavi temple offers free darshan to all visitors.
