Mahatva · Significance
Why this place matters
Considered the birthplace of Bhagwan Shri Ram, the seventh avatar of Vishnu. The temple is built in the Nagara style and stands at one of the most spiritually charged sites in Sanatan Dharma. The 51-inch idol of Ram Lalla, sculpted in Krishna shila stone by Arun Yogiraj, is the focus of the garbhagriha. On Ram Navami, sunlight is engineered to fall directly on the forehead of the deity through a precise optical pathway.
Itihaas · History
A walk through time
Ayodhya is named in the Valmiki Ramayana as the capital of the Ikshvaku dynasty and the birthplace of Bhagwan Shri Ram. The modern mandir's foundation was laid on 5 August 2020 after a Supreme Court verdict in November 2019. Construction is led by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust under the architectural guidance of the Sompura family, who have designed temples for over fifteen generations. The first phase was inaugurated with the Pran Pratishtha ceremony on 22 January 2024.
